When you wait to double and there are ANY market losing sequences, you lose equity. Usually when you wait, this will occur more than once. All of these small equity losses add to the cost of the gambit. The benefit from the gambit comes when you present the cube and your opponent makes a cube error. Unless you are playing a serious fish, how do you get your opponent to make a cube error while minimizing the equity lost while trying to get to a confusing position? On top of this, you need to evaluate the positions correctly two shakes in advance while your opponent only needs to evaluate the position once when the cube is turned. And you have to be sure you don't forget that you haven't doubled yet. Perhaps some players can gain from this technique. I can't. I'd rather spend my energy trying to play the checkers well.
