If you use Windows, you can use alt-Tab to switch back and forth between GG and XG This shouldn't interfere with your recording of the match. As far as I know there's no way to copy a position from GG into XG, so you need to set the position up in XG manually. You can use the VCR-style buttons at the top of the GG screen to move backwards through the game you are watching to the move you want to look at, or you can click on the move in the moves list on the right. It's also helpful to resize XG, and turn the panel off. That way you can put your small XG window on top and move it to the side so you can still see the GG position in the window "behind" it. You can then set up the position in XG without having to switch back and forth between the two programs. It's not the most elegant process to be sure. My preference is to watch the match and analyze it in XG afterward.
