One of the Phil Simborg teaching efforts makes multiple arguments in favor of the two point, when the choice is presented between the ace and the deuce.

You get your shots somewhat more quickly from the deuce.

You get gammoned somewhat less often from the deuce. Phil had reference numbers for this assertion.
