Good and experienced players could record quickly, but most others couldn't. And since many seem to agree that slow play is a big problem warranting clocks, mandatory recording of matches would add to that. As things stand now, I believe instituting mandatory recording would be a disaster.

Ah, I agree with that. I didn't go back and read earlier in the thread, so I missed the context. It's crazy to have mandatory recording.

I just would like it clearly allowed to record your own match (or to write down a position) in a clocked match. Some things I've read made me think that even that was opposed.
