This Nackgammon is definitely different in the early going. It seems to play like a backgame in transition to a forward game.

In this position, deciding whether to hit and make the 3pt is our first choice. Once that rather easy commitment is made, we need to find two more fives.

Blocking XG’s sixes, by remaking the 8pt, would be nice, but it would leave us stripped, and in danger of needing to break the midpoint. This at a time when we have four checkers back. The obvious solution is to take the great anchor that has been offered to us by this roll.

C (Cross) = 23/18(2), 8/3*(2)
