Interesting ruling in San Antonio...

What I mean, Bob, is that we will be following US Backgammon Tournament rules, but if one of the several situations that are worded ambiguously in the current rules arises, and this situation is addressed with more clarity in the Simborg / Bower / Horton rules, we could use the Simborg / Bower / Horton rules as a guide. I think that was the major intent of their effort- to add more clarity and provide examples to aid the tournament director in making fair decisions within the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship. Are their new rules perfect? I doubt it. But they are very good.

I like the results of Phil and Chuck and Jeb's efforts. I'm going to discuss this with Ed and if he likes it too and we decide to use them as a guide- in conjunction with the current US Backgammon rules, not in contradiction to them, we will make them available at the tournament and make an announcement to such effect prior to play.
