Suppose though that it can be proven that the player who had reached 7 points had done so with the help of a cube at say the score of 5 -6 in what should have been the Crawford game?

There should be a point of no return with illegal cubes in the Crawford game too. If the game ends, the players agree on the result, and both players record the same (wrong) result on their score cards, then that result stands.
