3 + 3?

Still confused. I assume by 'conso' you really mean 2nd chance? Then it makes more sense.
(Call the remaining players W1, W2, W3, L1, L2, L3.) Three matches are played simultaneously: W1 vs. W2, L1 vs. L2, and W3 vs. L3. After this round there will either be A) two undefeated players and two one loss players (plus two 2 loss players who drop into the Consolation) or B) one undefeated player, four one loss players (plus one 2 loss player to the Consolation).
In either case the players with 1 loss (after the above three matches are completed) are in the semi's of the 2nd chance bracket. If only two of them at this point then the winner of their match must play the loser the 1st chance bracket match. If four one loss players remain after those first 3 matches complete then even I can call the continuation 'obvious'. However, does the number of places paid in the Main differ depending upon which of the two scenarios occurs? And presumably the number of places paid in the consolation could depend upon this too. Then if either of those answers is 'yes', does the total amount paid in the main (and thus total amount paid in Conso) also depend upon the outcomes of these matches?
This is one of those many cases where a bracket (or two) is worth a thousand words.
