What a nice story, reminds me of my early years in backgammon,1975-80.I watched the match on line yesterday,an as always saw some interesting moves. From two fine players.Seeing the name the 'KID' on one name tag took me back in time.It was June of 1984 at the Sands Casino in Vegas.I went in tournament room, after getting some sun,to see who names were on the board for the first day of the tournament, the next day.I ran in to X22,whom I hadn't seen for two years, since leaving Palm Beach an moving to Laguna Beach in late 81'.While Paul an I were talking, this little guy came in,who Paul knew.It was like watching and listening to a 45 rpm set on 78,for those of you still alive that go back to prehistoric times! After he left,I lifted my jaw off the floor,an closed my mouth, with that Paul was laughing loudly! Who the hell was that,I asked as if hit by a bus!Paul replied, that is the greatest Gin Rummy player in the world! A player like him comes along once every fifty years,Paul said.Never mind he had already won two World Series of Poker Holdem Titles,Paul didn't mention. The little guy was,the legendary Stu 'the Kid' Unger.
