When I said that Blue would prefer not to get hit, I didn't mean that there are no rolls where it is wrong for White to hit, but that most of White's hitting rolls are better than most of White's non-hitting rolls.

The point is that simply dumping blots in front of White's checker isn't a very effective way to force a backgame. White will hit if doing so is in her interests, and will just ignore the blots if hitting them would make Blue happy. There are few, if any, rolls for White that force White to hit even though she would rather not do so.

I still think that the right way to think about Blue's strategy is that Plan A is to counter-prime, and Plan B is a backgame if Plan A fails. Since Plan B isn't so bad, Blue can afford to play very purely in pursuit of Plan A.
