Your board is the standard, nominal size in the US. Most Crisloid (and many non-Crisloid) aren't the full 1.75 inch but in the low 1.7's. I wouldn't recommend going any smaller than 1.65 inch (42 mm) and even that might be pushing things. (Of course there's no penalty for board size, but you could get objections from opponents when trying to decide whose board you're going to use.)
It's not simply the checker size that drives the weight of a board, but the materials and construction of the board itself. I suggest shopping around. E-mail Carol Joy Cole (see here website -- http://www.flintbg.com/boutique.html) for suggestions/advice/pricing/etc.
