Your proposed method is also interesting. In my method, the first match would be 11 or more pts..ie a typical Masters and the second (I proposed 4 pts) would be needed on average no more than 25% of the time.

You method would be good for Masters but with 7 pt matches, IMHO. However, in the rare event of a tie in your method, I'd just have the opps play a DMP game to decide.
