One thing though:
It will not be "people friendly", if that crazy label is synonym with tortoise tempo in the top flights, and no recording equipment to capture the action from best players in the game! Jeez, think if they banned broadcasting at the next US Open, because it would be too embarrassing for the players if the public witnessed a double fault or a missed put.
Is "people friendly" a label that is actually used at tournaments in the US? It almost makes me explode if that's true. I think it's wonderful that organizers make tournaments of all kinds, and caters for not just the majority or the loudest crowd, but the name is really a provocation....
BTW: J Lee said a very true thing: Attendance is the true measurement of a successful setup! If people go to the tournaments they like, the market will adjust it self. And certain kinds of tournaments will draw big crowds and be very popular, if they are not seen all the time, but just once or twice in a year. I think variation and diversity are the names of the game.
