Pos. 1: The 2-point is fighting the 8-point. Adding even another checker to this structure (13/8) is like trying to push two magnets together whose poles are anti-aligned. 13/9 (unstacking the heavy point) and either 24/23 or 6/5. OtB I'd likely choose 6/5 because my 2-point is more of a blitzing point and maybe I gain (in that direction) when opp gives up the anchor. QF says 24/23, based upon your series of three problems being more postable if all three answers are different. Still, I go with OtB plays -- REAL backgammon. 13/9, 6/5

Pos. 2: Unlike the previous problem, now there is no clash between points. Midpoint is heavy. Lighten it by adding a builder in a good spot. 13/8

Pos. 3: Now it's the 6-point that's heavy and opp's ownership of my 4-point means only the 5-point is a really good place for those spares. Start with 6/5. 24/20 is tempting but it gives opp a lot of momentum of he rolls odd-odd (9/36) and decent play with odd-even (18/36). Of the even-evens, 44 is great for him, too. (So is 66 but that's good no matter what I play.) Bottom line is that the big play looks too dangerous, even though opp has no board. So 13/9 is the only (reasonable, IMO) four remaining. 6/5, 13/9
