Crisloid boards

Suggestions:
1) Crisloid used to make a board with a non-cork surface -- some kind of fabric. I don't know if they still do, but if so I highly prefer that surface for randomizing the dicerolls. It also possibly holds up better than the cork, even when the cork is coated with polyurethane (and the oil-based version which is more durable has a yellow transparency -- not attractive to most colors, IMO.) See #3.
2) Regardless of what board you buy (Crisloid or otherwise), get a set with 1.75 inch (nominal) diameter checkers.
3) Direct questions to and then buy from Carol Joy Cole (http://www.flintbg.com/boutique.html and email = cjc@flintbg.com) who is a Crisloid distrbutor but also sells boards by other manufacturers. Whatever you might save in $ (and that assumes you even can) buying from a nameless/faceless alternative will be lost by multiples in backgammon karma.
But to answer your question, Crisloid makes decent boards. Not the best; far from the worst; probably among the best in value = quality/price (but beware, that's an attempt to attach an objective criterion to a subjective choice).
