It sounds to me that Joe's point is not all that different from the one you made when referring to capitalism in general. For example, I buy most of my food from the local supermarket. I'm sure that somewhere on the shelves are products from companies that engage in unethical behavior, perhaps treating some of their employees in a shameful or even illegal manner. By shopping at that supermarket, I suppose I am partially guilty of exploitation myself; after all, I have the option of not shopping there. Still, it does seem less reprehensible than running a company where I personally enforce unconscionable policies towards my own employees. The distinction seems to be that in one case, the "evil" is mixed in with a lot of "non-evil" in a complicated way.
