Precision Dice and Gentle Rolls

With non precision dice I think there may be something to what you suggest; rolling easy for small numbers and hard for bigger ones. The theory being: the more the dice roll, the greater the possibility of them landing on the heavier sides-the aces and deuces, causing the 6's and 5's to occur more than randomly. But, with precision dice, even if they are not perfectly precision, as no dice are, especially those with rounded corners, I think it matters very little whether people roll hard or soft as long as they shake the dice and roll them in a manner that satisfies the rules.
What I would worry more about; someone not shaking the dice properly to fully randomize them at times and shaking them vigorously to fully randomize them at other times.
I agree with Phil; shaking the dice, even minimally, and rolling them through a baffle box is the best method for guaranteeing randomness and for avoiding conflicts about proper rolling technique.
