For the sake of $30 to buy a clock, I think every open player who supports the use of clocks should buy one. I mean seriously - you put out between $500 and $1500 on a board, at least $20 on dice, and most open players who take part in the chouettes tend not to be playing for pennies. Oh, and why not enter the 2pt quickies for $20 a time.. or.. "sure, i want to buy that team in the calcutta".
Whats another $30 on a clock that will force your opponent to play in a timely manner? How about next time you win some money in a chouette, hand over 30 of that to CJC or whoever and buy the damn clock.
To TD's. How about clocks as partial prizes for side events / main events. How about clocks as door prizes at the calcutta. How about discount clocks are made available at your tournaments - I am sure you could get a plaque of some kind attached, and buy in enough bulk to sell at base.
Just make it part of the standard equipment required to attend a BG tournament - like the 'Bring your own Board' rule.
[Aside: I won a 'gold dubloon' at the midwests last year, i like it, its pretty, but honestly, give me a clock, some bg books, some more dice, cubes paraphenalia etc, and i am just as happy.]

17 cents there at least.
