Any problems running Snowie 4 or GNU with Vista ?

I agree. I have one system which is NEVER attached to the network. I installed the XP OS myself (so no unwanted app's like the big companies bloat you with) and I've never done one update. It has NEVER crashed. But on machines I attach to the network I want to install updates to the OS because usually these are security hole patches.

We get MS software for free here (and that includes for our own personal machines, but NOT for anyone outside the university). So none of my machines has the factory installed OS.

Neil's stepson(?) used to build his systems for him I think. So maybe this will be an easy thing to do. If you buy from Dell, HP, Acer, Gateway, etc., though, I doubt you get many systems available with XP.
