why is this a double?

Match score mostly, but you have all the criteria for that: positionally stronger, some immediate threats, and some very pleasing market losing sequences. You hit two checkers so many times here (16), and one checker 17 times. All it takes in the hit two sequences is a single checker to not enter, and your gammons have shot up spectacularly. In the single hit scenarios, you just need to not get hit back, or have opponent anchor high, then you are still on track for higher than usual gammons.
volatility here is in your favor, so use it.
OTB, I wouldnt be counting my hitters, I would be looking at:
how many blots is my board stronger than his do i have a race lead how do i recover from a disaster, and is that easy how does my opponent recover
if i am happy with my answers then i swing that cube over. in this kind of position, this process will take approximately 5-10 seconds at most.
I suspect that the more mathematically inclined people would focus more on equities and numbers, and this is more of a theoretical position set (to my mind).
