White's position is less volatile than a "nice" position, while blue's position is more volatile than a "roll" position (gap on the 4 point and only one checker on the 1 point), hence blue should be able to take a bit deeper than "number of rolls minus three;" usually about half a pip deeper by my preliminary estimates based on training with prop 57. What I have found so far is that a "pip player" has a wider doubling window than "number of rolls minus three is the point of last take and you can double if two pips below that" vs a "roll player," about half a pip wider in each direction. I guess this is due to higher volatility of the "pip player" position, hence the same reasoning applies here.
