Finally an interesting position in Stick's OLM.
22/11 is my first reaction. Good for timing. Unfortunately it doesn't hinder Stick's back checker as much as 13/8. After 13/8, though, what is the six? 22/16 is one. 13/7 is one. 10/4 is the third candidate. Let's do a Woolsey and narrow it down to the best of the 13/8 plays, then decide between that and 22/11. (Binary decisions are easier for most humans.)
[BTW, hitting on the 2-point looks way wrong. It's (too) deep; we don't have enough checkers in the zone to pull off a closeout.]
Stopping on the 16-point looks bad because Stick gets to hit and start a point he would REALLY like to own. It looks close between 13/7 and 10/4 -- both are points we'd like to own. 13/7 puts all our frontside checkers in direct range of the points we want. 10/4 leaves a checker on the midpoint where it doesn't immediately do much good. So 13/7.
Now we're down two two plays: 22/11 and 13/8, 13/7. Again, with four checkers back we want our front checkers to be maximally placed. After 22/11 that checker on the 11-point isn't in good position. Finally, 22/11 seems more one-sided (backgame) than making the 8-point. 13/8, 13/7 tries to win frontward with options to play backward when the primary plan fails.
Final choice: 13/7, 13/8.
