I would have played 24/14 but the arguments people have given for 24/18 13/9 seem compelling.

I mainly wanted to comment on this remark:

it is even more wrong with an unturned cube than with the cube turned.

It's not very meaningful to compare the EMG with the cube turned and unturned when you've just missed a double. I discussed this point in somewhat more detail here.

On the other hand if the EMG error with the cube unturned is more than twice the EMG error with the cube turned then you may have a valid point.
