I know Mary's talked about these pointless doubles. Usually White has target(s) on high in Blue's homeboard besides being on the bar. The barpoint blot is a bit of a distraction as far as Blue making a homeboard point but at the same time, a more difficult place to anchor/hit from the bar.
I don't think you get too many passes here, so in practice maybe you should wait. Playing a bot, though, it could be a double since you're not likely to get a bad take next turn (as you could playing a human). Not sure. I guess I'll Stick with ND.
As far as the 3-1 roll, I'll go with 8/7*, 13/10. White has more rolls to keep one on the bar (eleven vs. four) and a more difficult time anchoring this roll (five vs. six) compared to 5(2). Those builders are nicely placed to continue the attack. And maybe you get a pointless double next turn!
