With White's homeboard blot, 13/8 looks way too conservative. Blue needs to work on improving and gaining advantage. I see 13/10, 13/11 and 6/3*/1* as the best candidates. (Hitting one gives White too many decent entering rolls.)

I count 11 return shots after either play. 1-1 hits and covers after Blue's double hit.

Even with the shortage of covering rolls, I prefer the hit. White (obviously) has some bad rolls from the bar -- no equivalence if Blue leaves those checkers alone. Probably one supported by the enigmatic "when in doubt, hit" adage.
