I wanted to post this so everyone knows how wrong it is to split in these kinds of positions. If your opponent rolls an early double 4s or double 5s and makes his 5pt or 3pt you should definitely refrain from splitting if you can play the other number decently on your side of the board. I see a lot of players look at these plays, sometimes split, sometimes play 6/5. 6/5 should be beyond automatic, make your distribution better, don't give your opponent any targets, and aim for a prime v. prime game where your timing is much better.
