One question is whether we try and get a second checker now (we may have a chance later) by playing 14/5. (I don't think slotting the front edge of the prime [14/9, 6/2] is right, yet, although it could be....) Looks like we'd be playing with fire, although we can get burned no matter what.

"Straightforward" is 17/13, 14/9 which dupes Stick's many good (relative term) aces.

Another thing to be concerned with is how large doubles will play next turn. If we were to stay on the 17-point or slot the 2-point, 5-5 would not be so good.

17/8 is a possibility, too. That gives us a slotting six next turn.

After all that I think it's close between 17/8 and 17/13, 14/9. Without setting up a board and looking carefully at all plays I don't see how to choose between these. I'll just go with my intitial thought:

17/13, 14/9.
