Supposedly (and I always take these with a grain of salt) many hotels are switching to throw-away cups and glasses so this is less of an issue.

On Wednesday I checked into a Homestead Suite (part of the "Extended Stay" chain) and after they gave me a key to a (very) dirty room, the 'clean' room had a coffee pot that didn't work right. It was boiling the water but no water was going through, even to the basket. When I looked close I could see a nasty scum floating on the water in the reservoir. I assume this was some kind of mold that had clogged up the unit. Needless to say I 'retired' the unit and went to Target and bought a cheapo there. I didn't even want to ask for a replacement. Who's to say it would have been any safer?

Just as in backgammon where we sometime get "set in our ways", we need a method to clear our brain of old, trusting habits, unfortunately.
