Sacrificing Equity

My greatest Larry story happened in Madison last year.

And Larry is a very nice guy, always has been to me.

He was making the rounds with his usual proposition of playing five games at $15/point. And there were plenty of takers.

I caught him speeding a couple of times and won 25-30 points in the five game set. He did his usual good-natured grumbling and paid off.

Then Ray F. sat down, licking his chops -- as Ray regularly beats up on him unmercifully. Well, they got into a crazy back/forth hitting contest throwing the cube around like they were playing for pennies. Well, needless to say, Larry got extremely lucky in a multi-roll sequence and hung Ray for 64 in the first game. He worked it back down to 50 or so in the remaining four games but seeing Ray peel off 7 or 8 c-notes to a proud Larry in the middle of a crowded room is -- as they say in the credit card commercials -- "priceless".
