Bearing a checker off with 5/0 (and leaving the scary three on the highest point, two on the second highest point) is in fact correct by ~0.02. (I'll post the RO result later today -- when I get 'home'.) The safer play of putting two spares on the 3-point to go with one spare on the 4-point just doesn't win enough gammons. I made the 'safe' play because I figured that two on the rail and two on the mid- were enough to give me the G if I didn't get hit. Not so.
BTW, all other plays (e.g. spreading out the spares but not leaving a spare on the 6-point) are considerably worse than the top two plays. "Tweeners are usually wrong..."
Someone chose clearing the 6-point which would be best at DMP. But the extra total wins aren't worth giving away a bunch of G's.
