As I'd previously thought, Daniel would be the only person to reply to this and smack it right on the head. Don't think of this as a bad thing, I was fairly lost myself when asked this question because I never have to do it. I asked Nack to give me a clear explanation and he thankfully replied. Below is his copy & pasted email:

I honestly don't understand what all the fuss is about. I don't make settlements very often, but it's pretty easy if you have what Snowie thinks is the exact equity of the position. Since I usually don't settle for $0.926, I would have just rolled or else found some other way to split the difference.

Nack's idea is quite smart and didn't occur to me, though.
