I agree that I tend to go more on performance than reputation.

Thus you see Lyllhof near the top of my ballot. And you see Gotz Hiltburg (sp?) on my ballot for the phenomenal European run he had last year. You see Munitz for a first and second in overall ABT in the last two years plus the Monte Carlo semi-finals last year. Coolrey has certainly performed in the ABT and made the quarters in Monte Carlo two years ago. Petko is very good and very consistent. O'Hagan is a great player and merits. Neil certainly deserves a high spot. Falafal, Woolsey, Tardieu, Sax, O'Laughlin and others are great players who play a lot, and perform. Davis, Senk, Sconyers merit. I'm omitting some names, and apologize -- no slights intended, but hopefully I make my point.

But I question some of the old guard that rarely play anymore. If they're not promoting the game by playing and are not proving their merit in the current state of the game by playing, I tend to heavily discount the past.
