What length matches does he play ? Personally, I wouldn't consider it too hard to average 2.6 playing 3's and think I could do it playing 5's. 7's would be harder, but maybe if I always played with nothing but Snowie ER in mind and didn't play if tired or after having a cocktail or several.

If I could get well under 2.6 playing 1's I'd cry a river of tears.

In general, the shorter the match, the more percentage of games that are played without G's/BG's and cube mattering and, therefore, the lower the ER of your errors, resulting in lower average ER for the match.
