Coming out to the 18pt is out of the question -- the race is even so there is no need to risk a triple shot. Additionally, white has a spare on her midpoint and would love to hit us with a six.

That leaves 13/7 and 8/2. White has 10 checkers in the zone and better board, so we'd rather not get hit. This argues in favor of safe 8/2. On the other hand, the game has a long way to go and putting one checker out of play that early is not the best strategic decision. Our midpoint contains 5 checkers and begs to be unstacked. Putting it all together, I'd go with 13/7.
