In Response To: Dayton Doubles 2a 2a Cube Decision (Stick)

As usual I don't read others' responses until writing my own, but it's hard to miss Neil's heading. Probably he's going to say something similar (and maybe I learned this from him in the first place): if you're going to adjust, it should be for non-contact positions where your presumably weaker opps won't err. When they have upcoming checkerplay (and sometimes cube) decisions to make, taking allows them to botch the position, effectively lowering your takepoint to counteract the skill difference factor.

White has only one builder in place for the 4-point and two checkers to escape from Blue's side. Often this kind of position looks like a drop because we are programmed to be wary of gammons -- not relevant anymore.

I think this is a take, but even if true I know OtB it's easy to talk oneselves into a pass....

I take.
