I misread, you were looking for literary acclaim rather than bestsellers. But there's still plenty of authors who have written acclaimed works before they were 18 (like Alexander Pope, Mary and Percy Shelley, etc).

In the literary industry you also have to get a publisher and distributor, which is a hurdle for children.
