Here are related equities:

2a-10a = 92.3%
4a-2a = 33.13%
4a-8a = 74.58%

You can do it your way, but it requires more arithmetic. I think much simpler is to do it this way:

When double works you gain 7.7% (the difference between 100 and 92.3)
When double doesn't work you loose 41.45% (the difference between 74.58 and 33.13)
So, your doubling point is 41.45/[41.45+7.7]=84.3%
Here you win 31/36, which is more than your doubling point. So, double is correct.
