You are far behind in the race, but have a much better position for priming. So concentrate on priming, building good points. A hit is a bit annoying because it delays the building of more points, but don't hurt that much because the third checker back offers additional defensive opportunities, and aces are a bit duplicated (23/22 is also productive, moving the back checker to a place from which it can escape with a single die).
