In Response To: Florida and Connecticut ABT events (Neal Weiner)

Thanks for posting, Neal. You, Kathy, and Rick put on a super show in Florida. There were the main events, of course, but also several side events, plus chouettes popping up pretty much whenever Brownian motion brought three or four players who were out of action together in the same part of the playing room.

Now regarding that business about studying vs. flying with what you learn incidentally and from experience: I'm never one to knock mindful play leading to the kind of experience that really helps you advance, and I think there is too much emphasis right now on PR and taking the bot's word as law. But with that said, I have XG on both my computers, and when it comes to studying backgammon, I "don't leave home without it."

When you have a backgammon question, set it up for you bot-friend and let it help you reach the answers you desire far faster than you could have found them any other way. But always remember that the bot is your assistant, not your teacher, because you are smarter.

Best to both of you, and also Rick and the rest of your crowd down in the sunny south lands.
