Isn't this mostly just because the definition of EMG causes equities to be divided by 2 when the cube is on 2?
My bad. The evals below indicate you are right!
If you multiply the equity of the top play of the second rollout times 2, you get 1.0856. Comparing this with the equity of 0.9337 for the same play in the first diagram suggests that much of the equity in the first diagram comes when the cube is turned later. The fact that the pseudo-cubeless win percentages for the two evals are about the same confirms this.
