The first decision is whether to hit. If Blue does hit, then playing down from the midpoint would create a good 6 for Blue. If White hits, Blue could use a 6 to hit back. When White misses, Blue would have a 6 to make the 5pt.

My preference, however, is to make the 5pt now. That would give White 2, 4, and 9 to make his inferior 4pt. Depending how you count, that’s about 24 numbers. (White should probably not cover with rolls like 11, 31, and 33.) When White does make the 4pt, Blue will be ahead. And when White does not, Blue will usually be way ahead. That’s a win/win for Blue.

With the 2, I would rather play down than offer White tactical choices by splitting off the anchor.
