We only need two of them to land in front of the anchor! It's okay if some of the others make lower points. Holding the 10pt, while playing 8/2, leaves us with stripped outside points.

Nevertheless, I like your play better than breaking the bar point. It is ironic, however, to drop a checker behind the anchor on this play because you are concerned that the alternative might cause you to do that later.
