As can be seen on the rollout, bot agrees with this. The reasoning behind 13/12 13/7 could be that timing for backgame is rather bad, so we need to try to consolidate front position in order to keep plan of going forward open. Leaving back men split could also help escaping.

But I guess this not-perfectly timed backgame (after 23/22 13/7) is better and less risky anyway (opp has too many attackers lurking for our back men had they remain split). Blots left on 13&12 pts. are in no danger, as hitting can only help our timing. And because opp doesn't have a solid block, our high-backgame can evolve after any hit into a containment plan, since we have our solid 4-pt. block formed.

The fact that a Giant can't even see the other plays than the best play is enough explanation for me here.
