Better than the Bot

I don't think strategic human vs. tactical bot is an accurate description of the situation in backgammon. Neural nets are quite good at strategy. I don't doubt though that a team of a strong human and XGR++ could slightly outperform XGR++ alone. At least, the human would be good for cutting losses in unusual (and rare) positions that the bot is known to butcher.
It's hard to comment on "When I play against xg using tutor mode I seem to win more than my fair share of matches", because it's too unspecific. How large is your sample of matches? How do you determine the "fair share" (a misnomer? You seem to be implying that your actual fair share may be higher than your "fair share")? What is your real share? What is your real, luck-adjusted share?
