I don't have a good answer to your first question. If White doesn't roll a 5 then Blue will be glad to have the extra builder on the 9pt, and if White rolls a 3 then Blue will also be glad to have started an advanced anchor of his own. I wouldn't have thought that these advantages outweighed the direct shot, though.

For your second question, probably the "book" icon is there because the resulting position is the same as after White rolls 32 and splits and then Blue rolls 54 or 63 and hits. Generally speaking, XG doesn't have a third-roll book, but if a third-roll position coincides with a second-roll position for which it has a book evaluation then it will display that.
