Criteria for slotting with 13/7?

Often the alternative to 13/7 is 24/18. Walter Trice wrote two Gammon Village articles on this topic back in 2009. I have a folder full of examples from my own play. Perhaps I will make that the topic of my series on rec.games.backgammon (not until this weekend though).
The crudest non-trivial heuristic is to favor 13/7 when you're behind in the race. 13/7 typically aims for a priming position at the risk of losing more ground in the race.
Of course that's not the whole story. Probably the best thing for you to do is to save these positions and post them here for discussion.
