Criteria for slotting with 13/7?

The bots slot the offense barpoint with 13/7 in the early/middle game more than I am inclined to. I often get these plays wrong -- slotting when I shouldn't; failing to slot when I should. Since it's a fairly common decision, errors of 0.020 or more can add up.

I'm trying to develop some criteria for when it's correct to make this play. Is anyone aware of any online articles that discuss this? Alternatively, has anyone put together a position set that examines this, or come up with their own heuristics?
