In Response To: Backgammon in 1930's media (Jake Jacobs)

Monkeyshines appears to be (or have been) a Northern American expression synonymous with the expression “Monkey Business”. The film was released in September 1931, after the article was written. Perhaps “Monkey Shines” was its original working title. Monkey Business seems to be a much better title for the international market, its meaning more readily understood.

The photograph is very strange implying some "in" joke or allusion (to the rodeo?. Bare-back pig riding?).
