One idea I wanted to mention, but forgot, is that doubles are the easiest dice to royally screw up. Don't be afraid to take more time than usual when you roll doubles and there are all kinds of seemingly decent plays. Even if you take a lot of time when you roll doubles there is a decent chance you'll have gotten it wrong, very wrong.
