I am using Progressive Last Chance formata at the Southeast Backgammon Championships, but Jeb Horton is preparing a new 64-bracket which is NOT the one used in Pittsburgh. It isn't perfectly progressive, but the instances you noted won't happen (someone with a better record starting behind someone with a worse record.)

I also will use a 32 and 48 grid that Jeb has prepared for me, depending on the number of entrants, of course.
